Well, by golly, it appears I do! Of course you wouldn't know it by the lack of updates. I have no excuses and aren't real sure why I haven't posted in ages, but alas, here I am and shall post now.
I'll just kinda hit things by month, but then may group by events. I know, confusing, but you'll catch on, we all know I'm not that deep! LOL
October 2007
The most consuming thing about October 2007 was the whole lumps in my boobs thing. I found those in September, surgery in October, mama in town to take care of me, yadda, yadda, yadda! LOL I did have my six month check up and all was well. They didn't even order another mammo, so happy about that. She said to get one when I'm 40, woo Hoo!
Also in October was the GL Gathering which is always fun for the soap fan. Everyone came to town, we had events for the whole weekend, got to hang with them, really fun times.
Oh, I did go with P&B to see Beethoven's 9th at Carnegie Hall. What an amazing night that was. It was so intense and just beautiful music. P&B also took me to see Madam Butterfly at the Met. OMG!!!!!! It was absolutely breathtaking. I cried at the end.
I attended a BBQ in Brooklyn, it was a co-worker's thing, it was fun, lots of fun, and I saw a new part of Brooklyn. Of course, I did the usual hanging with friends, P&B, P&T, the rest of the Gateway Crew, Downey, John, Rachel, Mint, and others. Brent, Teresa's friend and now mine, came to town, we had a great time with him. He's just always so much fun. We did Acme for brunch and then I walked him and T all over SoHo. I ended October with a bang. I saw Kim Zimmer in a Cabaret, she was fabulous. Yes, again, it's a soap thing! LOL
November 2007
Started off normal, dinners, brunches, and birthdays with the peeps. Ohhh, I got a new dishwasher, which was one of the major highlights of my month! LOL My friend Becky came to town and we did some touristy stuff, but mainly just hung with my friends. My Gateway Crew did an early Thanksgiving dinner. It was potluck and we all had a great time. Becky and John came with me and I think enjoyed themselves. I then flew home for the holiday and had a wonderful time in FL with the family, as always. When I came home I had Debbie and Stephanie come to visit. What a great trip that was. We just chilled and had a blast.
December 2007
December started off with a bang. Queenie was in Florida as always so I was doing even more hanging with friends. When I have her I have to go home first and sometimes just don't do that going back out thing, but with her gone, I was all over the place, leaving from work. I went to my first Hanukkah. What a fun night that was. Great food, great friends, fun games and new lessons on another culture. I also got to go to Las Vegas in early December and saw Celine Dion with my girls, Chad, Wayne, Gwen and Danny. We had the best time. We always have loads of fun when we are all together.
December is also the time for all the work and holiday parties. LOVE those! Also had Kit Kat and her family in town, that was fun to show them the city at Christmas time. Oh, I also went to see Celine's concert on the big screen, it was awesome, just like Vegas, just that I was alone and not with Lucylee and Tvogue! I had some dinner parties at my place, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to do those. I've been a lot of them in the past 8 months. I just love to cook for people and entertain. I've discovered the southern part of me really feels that me cooking for my friends is a way to show them I love them and also to help sustain them, you know? Give them food to keep them going. It's just an awesome way to connect with people. I got a new apron for Christmas, Barbara Jo made if for me and I do just love to use it.
I flew home for Christmas and had the most wonderful time with the family. The times with my family and especially my parents means so much more to me these days. As I get older it really is what I love to do. I love seeing my friends and connecting with people, but I really just like to spend as much time with the units as I can. We did Christmas on Christmas Eve this year, due to the the rushed day we would have on the 25th. It worked out really nice. Christmas day we had a few extras for dinner, my aunt, cousins, cousin's babies and friends. All-in-all, it was a wonderful day with lots of time with family and friends. I had to fly out early on the 26th, of course, got sick and was in bed most of the day when I got home. I did Christmas with P&B shortly after getting back to NYC, love those family nights too, and then did Christmas with my GL girls the next time as well. New Year's eve was fun, went to two parties instead of the usual one. Erika and I made the rounds. After I got home from Neil and Brian's I stopped by P&T's and they were all still there playing Wii, so I joined them and just continued the party until early New Year's day.
January 2008
Of course day one of the year, had black eyed peas, 'cause I'm southern and that's what we do! LOL Had dinner at P&T's and we went to see a movie, Juno that day.
My GL girls come over fairly regularly and have been since around November last year and they will just stay the weekend at my house. I, of course, cook for them, 'cause I wanna and I feel as the oldest it's my mama-away-from-their-mama duty! It's kind of becoming a really fun tradition for them to come over, us eat and then stay up, them later than me, back to that me being older thing, and watching DVD's. I really, really love it when they come over, now if I can just get them to come earlier my life would be set. Yes, back to me being older again! LOL
I got to go see Hansel and Gretel at the Met with P&B. It was a good show, but I have to say, not my favorite. Peter says the show he saw was much better and the way he described it, I wish we had seen that one, but this one was still good and very interesting.
My friend Stephanie J was in town and we just had the most fun. She, like Becky, just wanted to hang with me and do what I do, so we hung with my boys, had dinner with friends and chilled at P&T's. Mucho fun. I introduced Stephanie to Rungsit, my favorite Thai place, and yep, she LOVED it. She's already told me that she's coming back and going there again.
In Early January I also got to go back to Las Vegas with my girls and Chad and we, again, just had the best time. It was AWESOME! We saw O and Love, both Cirque De Sole shows. Really, really loved them. They just amaze me. They now have one on Broadway that I'm just dying to see. I know it's going to be so good.
Late January MiMiller and Lisa came to visit, starts off great, well the first day. Saturday at lunch MiMiller starts having some flutters in her heart. We took her to the emergency room and Monday night she got out, on her on accord. They wanted to keep her and run all these tests and stuff. She wanted to get home. So, all of their trip was spent with us in the hospital. They are coming back Labor Day to re-do the trip, that trip just didn't count. Lisa's brother was in an Opera on that Monday night. MiMiller and I stayed home and Teresa and Lisa went. Too bad we had to miss it, but MiMiller was not staying home alone. ;-)
February 2008
My friend Daniel got his Green Card this year and so we had a big party to celebrate. It was so awesome and I'm so happy for him.
I did more dinners with friends. Sunny, T and I had a girl's night out. I so love it when we can do those. We don't get to do it often enough, but I think we are going to work on that.
My friend Wendy came to town for work. I hadn't seen her in years and it was like not a day had gone by. It's so awesome when you can just slip back into those relationships and feel as though no time has passed. We hung out as much as we could. I got to meet her friend Frank and he hung with us too. Also, my friend Kristy was in town the same weekend and we just made it one big fun time with everyone. I took them to Patsy's and some other fun places and just had a blast.
On February 11 my Uncle Billy passed away. It was so incredibly sad. He was so young, only 53. I flew home on the 13th and spent time with my family. I will miss him so much. When I was a child, he was such a big part of my life and still was, just physical distance was an issue. I loved him a LOT and know for sure he loved me too.
March 2008
Back in October of 2007 I had purchased tickets to La Traviata for Teresa for her birthday. We went to the Met and saw that and I fell in love with that opera! What a great performance and so soap opera-y in it's story, LOVED it!
Again, more brunches, dinners and chillin' with the peeps. We also went to see Crimes of the Heart the play, it was pretty good. Not the best I've ever seen, but good nonetheless. Teran's family was in town and we got to hang with them some. Loved meeting them, just great people.
On March 12th, I flew home to Jax to be with my mama. She had surgery and I wanted to make sure I was there to take care of her. I was able to take 10 days and be with her. I'm SO, SO glad I did. The trip was great in the fact that I think it brought us even close together, if that was possible. I know for sure I cherish her a lot more than I ever have before. I was able to take care of her completely. I did all the cooking, cleaning, washing and getting her whatever she needed, it was awesome and just such a blessing!
While I was home taking care of mama, I joined Weight Watchers. Yep, Biggen' decided to do something about the weight. Since joining WW, I've lost 21 pounds! Woo hoo, go me. In total since trying to do a little here and there, starting around November 2007, I've lost a total of 41. I'm really beginning to be able to tell it. I can see it in my clothes and just my over all feeling. I'm hoping to lose like 30 more, but we will see how it goes. I've got a few friends doing it with me and that makes all the difference in the world.
I think that's enough of a post for now. It doesn't bring me up to current, but it's a start! LOL, enjoy!
