It's BENIGN, BENIGN, BENIGN!!!! WOO HOO!!!!
I just got back from the doctor and both masses/cysts that they removed are benign, there's no cancer at all, woo hoo! I honestly felt there wouldn't be, but until I got that final report, there was that small bit of doubt. No doubt now! It's all good! I'm so happy and relaxed right now. I have been a bit tense for that past month and a half and just to know it's all good, well, totally what I needed! LOL

Tape, really that important?
YES! OMG, yes! So, yesterday, after working all day, I was tired, sore and itching like crazy. I decided, no, I hadn't thought it all the way through, that I would take the bandages off my incisions. Again, not sure what I was going to do after I got it off, but I didn't think it was that big of a deal. Well, OMG, it was. The tape they put on, little did I know, was keeping the incision closed and kept if from pulling. Yep, therefore, keeping the pain level down. So, when I took it off, PAIN! I was hurrying, trying to find my first aid kit to be able to tape it back up. Of course I don't have the same type of tape and so it didn't do as well. I had to put on a bra and a tank with the built in bra to try and make sure they didn't move at all. I then took some pain meds and prayed it would help. First thing this morning I was at the doctor's office and she re-bandaged me. I didn't mess with the left side, after the fiasco that was the right side. I had enough sense to leave it alone. So, with all the messing with it, I'm a whole lot sore today. Also, found out I'm having an allergic reaction to the tape, so I have some tiny blisters and that's what's causing the itching.
So, that's the latest on me and my boobs! LOL, my mother will die knowing that I'm being so candid, but hey, this is me and it's what I do, do! LOL Plus, I gotta talk about it, just gotta!

Buddy Check 12
So, growing up in Jacksonville, I learned about Buddy Check 12, which is that you and a buddy do beast self exams on the 12th of each month. The idea is to call each other and remind each other and just, well, be a buddy.
So, I have always done self exams, about every month or every other month. Of course, never felt anything, until September 4th. I found the lump in my right breast about 9 at night and was in the doctor's office the next day. When I walked in I talked to the girls at the desk and just lost it. I started crying, I tried hard not to, but I couldn't help it. I tried hard to make sure I didn't freak out, but in all honesty, I just couldn't help it. That day the doctor took a needle biopsy and then set me up to have an ultra-sound. At the ultra-sound they felt it, but couldn't find it on the ultra-sound. My doctor called and checked on me and said not to worry, we'd wait for the pathology report.
The next week, I got a voice mail from my doctor telling me that they found "foam cells" on the report and she was sending me to see a breast surgeon. Yep, back to freaking out! LOL, I tried really hard to tell myself not to get upset, but well, I did. I go to see her, she orders another needle biopsy and they look at it, and say it's benign, but has a marker. The doctor's suggestion, it needs to come out. We set up the surgery for 10/11/07.
The surgeon also orders a mammogram of both breasts before the surgery. I go and have the mammo, and yep, the find something on the left side as well. They then send me back for another ultrasound, she found the spot on the right and the one on the left. They then send me to another doctor to do another needle biopsy on the left side. This time while using an ultra-sound machine. Yeah, that was not fun. The doctor looks at it, thinks it's nothing to worry about and won't need to come out. Wrong. 2 pathologist at the NYU Cancer center look at it and say, yep, it has to come out as well.
Of course, all this happens, after they try to cancel the surgery twice. I tell them they can't do that, because mama's coming, and I NEED her to help me after. They say they need time to do this and that, but the doctors all work hard to help and we keep the surgery on the 11th. The morning of the surgery I had to go back to the doctor and they inserted a wire in my left breast, to guide the surgeon. Yeah, it was as pretty as it sounds! I thought I might be able to get some TV reception, but no! LOL
I then went to the hospital and they did the surgery and removed a mass from each side. I have my post op appointment on Thursday and will find out the pathologist report.
That's the mechanics of it all. The mental reality of it was a bit different. I didn't think I would ever have to face something like this and I really did try to not freak out. Humidity! UGH!
The main reason I moved from Florida was to get away from the heat. I don't like it, it doesn't like me, we ARE NOT friends! I LOVE the NYC weather for the most part, but there are about 2 months out of the year where it's just hot, all the time. Today is so evident of that. At 6:40 this morning, yep, I was up that early, thanks to Queenie, and it was so sticky and hot outside at that time, it was just horrible. But alas, I shall endure, because I do know, that unlike Florida, Fall, Winter and Spring are coming! Woo Hoo!
I am recovering from yet another back issue. I went to Mississippi for the Labor Day weekend and was hurting some, but I guess I just overdid it a bit. I did some swimming and yes, even the diving board a few times and then slipped getting out of the tub and that was all she wrote. I came home and worked on Tuesday, went to a play with Teresa, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and I guess sitting in those chairs for that 2 hours, was all it could take. I got up Wednesday morning to take Queenie out and could not walk. It was so bad. I was bent over like an 80 year old man. I had some other issues come up and well, I was once and done. I stayed home Wednesday and then worked Thursday and Friday and then all weekend I did nothing. I told my friends I was going to have to stay in and just rest the back as much as I could. Of course that's code for EVERYONE call and ask me to hang out. I got a call from P&T, P&B originally asked me to go to the lake, Alicia and Rachel, Erika and Trisha, and Darlene. All said, it won't be much, I promise, just come and hang out. Well, we all know me, I don't just hang out, something would have happened and so I said no to all and stayed home. The doc has me on some pain meds and Prednisone, so yeah, I'm just a peach to be around right now! LOL
Well, since my last post, I went to see A Chorus Line with Bryon. What a great show. Having never seen it before, I had no idea what to expect, but an empty stage was not it. I was like, how is this going to be good, but oh, it so was. I really enjoyed that. Bryon pointed out what part he had played when he did that show and so that was really cool and I could so see him in that part too.
P&T and I went to see Harry Potter again, they hadn't seen it and I could see it again, 'cause it was that good.
The next day I had a spa day. Sara had given me a spa certificate for my bday, oh, my what a great day that was. I loved it so much. I had never had a facial before, why didn't anyone tell me how great they are? I am so ready for another one. The massage was wonderful too.
That night John and I went to New Jersey to see Marylou, Dina and Lisa. We did dinner and had a great time. It was good to see them and just a short ride from the city.
That Sunday I went to Darlene's about 3:30 is and she cooked and we hung, her family, Madeline and I and we just chatted about the Harry Potter book and then I went to see her mama's garden. It's so cool. They have this spot on Roosevelt Island where you can have a garden spot and grow whatever you want, well, within reason! LOL She had veggies and flowers, pretty cool.
Bryon and I went to see Hairspray the movie. What a great movie. Not as good as the play, but good.
I got to celebrate Gracie's 1st birthday with her, her parents, her grandma and P&T. It was great, she's such a cutie. After we left there we went to P&T's and hung out as an unofficial going away party for Anne and Cesar. I hate that she moved out, but so happy for her and the upcoming marriage.
Went to the lake and just hung out, great relaxing weekend.
We had book club and I read about half of the book! Go me! We also had a small E! birthday party after, that was lots of fun.
P&T took me to dinner at Patsy's for my bday and then the next night I took Queenie to P&B's, had dinner and then they took her for the weekend. I went to Mississippi and had a fabu time. We went to Letha's, the best BBQ, EVER! We also went to R Wayne Cameron's for some swimming, that's where the diving board came into play. That night we just hung out at L&C's and played games, fun, fun times. I love those just hanging out times, they really are the best, just getting to be together. Tvogue and I stayed up that first night, forever just chatting. It seemed every time we started to go to sleep we'd think of something else to chat about. The next night, we were going to to that after the games, but Lucylee gave me some pain meds and a muscle relaxer, yep, I was gone, 2 seconds after my head hit the pillow. The next day we had a cookout and Gwen and Danny came over, Harold and Precious Princess. It was so relaxing and I got a little sunburned, but nothing major. I stayed in the pool most all the time. We did games that night too and I was not victorious in my I Love Lucy Monopoly like I was the night before, R Wayne won that night, but I was in second! LOL I so wish I had more time down there, it seemed as soon as I got there I had to leave. bummer, but it was an awesome time and can't wait for our next visit together! Oh and let me just say, Nintendo DS, Addictive!

Biotchness...
Wow, how much biotchness can one person exude?! Well, obvioulsy more than I expected. I, of course, am talking about myself. I have been in such a mood all week. I'm not really even sure why, I just know I have not been the nicest person and I've had terrible mood swings. I know, "it's that time", and I'm sure, yes, that's part of it, but usually I hate me when I'm like this and so I change it fairly quickly, but this week, not so much. It seems like and yes, I mean, seems like, everything is going wrong, and I know in my head that's not the case, but try telling that to my moods! LOL
I was upset last night, mad actually, and I tried not to be, but the worse it got, so yes, I cried. I HATE when I get like that. I don't want to cry and yet, that's what I did. My friends saw me and were like, what's wrong? I lied and said I had gotten bad news! LOL But no, of course I didn't tell them what the bad news was. No, in reality, I did get some bad news yesterday, but nothing that required tears.
I do hope this cranky-ness passes soon, and I'm sure all my friends wish it would pass soon than that!

The oh so fabulous life and times of Sundria, right?! LOL, yeah, I guess so. Have to say, starting off, that when I blog, I blog the interesting stuff, not the nights I sit at home watching TV and munching on sunflower seeds. I do that way more than you all think I do and I'm sure by my blogs it seems that I am out every night partying like a rock star, but trust me, that's not the case. But I do know that people don't want to read about the night I found the stamps I had purchased 4 months ago and couldn't locate. While exciting for me, I'm thinking you all wouldn't care about that. I had a friend recently, she knows who she is, say to me that my lifestyle was a bit out there. I was quite taken aback thinking that someone would think I had changed that much and that I'm not me anymore. I just have more opportunities to do way more stuff, just because of the nature of the city in which I live. Does that make sense? I am still the same Sundi that I have always been, but I have had more experiences since moving here. I've met tons more people of all different races and cultures and I'm just trying to take as much of it in and learn more about people and places and things that I never had exposure to before. I decided when I moved here I wasn't going to let opportunities pass me by. If I can go and do, then I will go and do. I know to some that makes me a party animal, but trust me, that makes me no more of a wild child or party girl that I was in Nashville, Jacksonville, yes, but Nashville, no! LOL ;-) So now in answer to your questions, no, I have not traded God in for a cult, I have not given up church and I have not turned my back on my core beliefs and thrown all that out the window. I am Christian now and forever and still believe 100% in that and share that as much as I can in all situations I can.
So, now onto the blog….
Had a promotion party to go to one night after work, at the Paris Café, what an awesome place. It's down at the Seaport and it's one of those place where the fishermen would go after their night shifts. They would have happy hour/food specials, like burgers and the like at 8am, because for the fisherman, that was/is their 5:00. They don't do as much now, because they've moved the fish market uptown, but it's still happening a little. So, it was a cool place to go and learn about.
We had book club at Fern's house and no, I didn't read the book! LOL It was Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, or something like that. They all loved the book and I loved the food Fern had. She made recipes from the book and it was awesome. We had nice discussions about how we live now, food wise, compared to back in the day. Very interesting how we have had changed as a country. No fruit is out of reach, really, no matter what time of year. One major question, should we limit ourselves to what's available here and now, rather than import. Support the local farmers by eating what they have for us. Interesting thoughts.
Movie night with the friends was great, we saw Waitress, cute movie and I just LOVED Andy Griffith in it. Very good movie and the crew had a blast. We had to sit in separate rows, so 4 in front, 4 in back and at some point there was popcorn and M&M's thrown from row to row! =) But no, we did not disturb the movie. =)
I have numerous dinners with my boys. The best ones lately have been when we all go to Daniel's and just cook out and sit around. It's so much better than a restaurant. You can talk to everyone and actually hear what the other is saying and the food is always better and it's WAY cheaper. So, for my birthday that's what we did. Grant it, it was the hottest day of the year, and we were in the backyard, but it was still way better than a crowded restaurant. I had a wonderful bday with the boys and my Gateway crew did a dinner at Paul and Teresa's for me too and it was awesome. I just love my peeps.
The Lake has become my weekend home! =) It's been so wonderful and I've spent so many weekends out there. It's been a quiet summer, as far as visitors go, so it's mainly been just me and P&B. My Gateway crew did come out one Saturday and we grilled and swam and just had the best time. The dogs had so much fun. Hunter is such a water dog! I'm hoping we can plan another weekend for that too, I think everyone had a great time.
Teresa had her friend Brent in town and the three of us hung out on a Saturday just tooling around the city. What a great day that was, but they walked my legs off! LOL, OK, they will say I did that to them, but really, who do you believe?! ;-) It was so great to finally get to hang out with Brent and get to know him. He's just the best and so awesome, I'm ready for him to move here!
I've done a little cooking at P&T's, but not as much as usual. It's just been crazy, all the stuff going on, but hopefully we can get back to that. I miss hanging with them as much. Now that summer is on the backside, maybe we can pick that up again. We have still been doing Sunday night bible study at their house, but I'm always just coming in from the lake or we have been out of town and all that jazz.
Oh, I went to this cool place called Camille Street Café with John and what a great place. Cool atmosphere. The food was good, not fabulous, but it was still cool to go. It was also in a great neighborhood.
Went to Carne Vale, a Brazilian restaurant. It was my Timmy's birthday, my other southern sister. Great food, but the service, sucky! I know it was probably one of those places that was all about the atmosphere, but I sure would have enjoyed that atmosphere way better had I not been starving! LOL
Oh, guess what? Yep, ended up in the ER one night. Not sure what happened, but I was there for about 6 hours. They did all kinds of tests and couldn't find anything, but they did give me pain meds which helped so much. It was what I call the sweet blanket of love, Morphine! LOL I told the doctor how much I loved him and would gladly marry him for what he did for me! ;-) What a night that was though, having never been in an ER as a patient or really with anyone else, that I can remember, it was a crazy night. When I heard the nurse telling one patient that the reason her legs looked like that was because she shot up in her legs rather than other places, I knew it was going to be crazy. It was like she was giving her tips on the best places on your body to shoot up, so it doesn't make you look bad! LOL There was also this guy who had been in an accident and he was telling everyone he was going to kick their arses and kill them and beat them up! LOL, needless to say, it didn't take long to see that yes, he was SO intoxicated and they gave him something to relax him and let him sleep. It was an interesting night and one I don't want to repeat anytime soon.
After recovering from all that mess, things were looking up, so I went to the lake that weekend and had some dinners with friends.
For 4th of July our Gateway crew had a party and invited lots of people from the building and some work friends. It was a GREAT party. It rained so we couldn't go out on the Esplanade like we wanted, but we moved it in to P&T's house and had a great time in spite of the rain. We ran down when they started the fireworks and they were so awesome, not the Macy's awesome, but awesome nonetheless! ;-) Go Jersey!
Laura Fulcher, still can't get used to her new name. ;-) Anyway, she came to town and met up with Bryon and me. We took her and showed her some of the "highlights" of the town and then went to dinner at Zen Palate. I think she had a great time. God knows Bryon and I loved seeing her.
I, of course, went to see the new Harry Potter movie with Bryon, Darlene and Jonathan. We had a blast and Bryon and I, with our accents, entertained the whole place. About a week later Darlene, Madeline, Jonathan and I went to the midnight sale of the new Harry Potter book. OMG, what a great book and we had a blast at the party. Acting like children, but it was so fun.
Debbie W, Mitzi and Corey came to town and we had such a nice time. I took them to Vynl, Angelo's and Calle Ocho for all our various food needs and I think they were very happy with my choices. We also saw Marry Poppins on Broadway, OMG, what a GREAT show! It was unbelievable they way they did the magic, different scenes and the dancing. I highly recommend this show, a MUST see!
My girls, Rachel and Alicia came over, it had been forever since we hung out, so we just ordered food and talked and watched some stuff Alicia had to view for work. One was really cool, it was about a boy becoming a girl and all he was going through, physically and emotionally. Very interesting. Teresa came up and watched that with us too.
We had book club again, this time at Teresa's house and no, I didn't read that book either, but it was interesting to hear about it. It was a classic Hemingway book and some liked it, some hated it, but either way, lots to talk about.
T and I went to Colony Music in Time's Square and I couldn't believe it, but it was T's first time there. She's such a music person, but never knew that was there, so that was a fun night watching her just go gaga over all the music.
I went home to FL for the church's and my daddy's 35th anniversary. It was a wonderful time. Daddy didn't know I was coming until I walked into church on Sunday. He was so excited and happy to see me, as I was him. I got to spend some quality time with the family and with Chris and Laila, oh my what a yummy baby! She's so cute and she loves me! ;-)
I came home for one day and then took off on a trip with some of my friends. We had a WONDERFUL time and it was just great to be with them.
I came back just in time for the birthday celebrating to begin. We all know how I love to celebrate for as long as I can! ;-) I had lunches, dinners, flowers, presents, cards, emails and tons of stuff. What a great birthday. My friends and family rock!
I went to my first Launch party. Sara works for a clothing company/designers and they launched their new line, Jax, and we got to go to the party. It was really cool. I loved it, seeing all the new clothes before they ever hit the stores. So, so, so cool.
Today I got a flower delivery for my birthday! LOL, yep, it was an order that went all wrong and they finally delivered it today! ;-) Totally makes me happy, I have flowers and more celebrating of my birthday, woo hoo!

The oh so fabulous life and times of Sundria, right?! LOL, yeah, I guess so. Have to say, starting off, that when I blog, I blog the interesting stuff, not the nights I sit at home watching TV and munching on sunflower seeds. I do that way more than you all think I do and I'm sure by my blogs it seems that I am out every night partying like a rock star, but trust me, that's not the case. But I do know that people don't want to read about the night I found the stamps I had purchased 4 months ago and couldn't locate. While exciting for me, I'm thinking you all wouldn't care about that. I had a friend recently, she knows who she is, say to me that my lifestyle was a bit out there. I was quite taken aback thinking that someone would think I had changed that much and that I'm not me anymore. I just have more opportunities to do way more stuff, just because of the nature of the city in which I live. Does that make sense? I am still the same Sundi that I have always been, but I have had more experiences since moving here. I've met tons more people of all different races and cultures and I'm just trying to take as much of it in and learn more about people and places and things that I never had exposure to before. I decided when I moved here I wasn't going to let opportunities pass me by. If I can go and do, then I will go and do. I know to some that makes me a party animal, but trust me, that makes me no more of a wild child or party girl that I was in Nashville, Jacksonville, yes, but Nashville, no! LOL ;-) So now in answer to your questions, no, I have not traded God in for a cult, I have not given up church and I have not turned my back on my core beliefs and thrown all that out the window. I am Christian now and forever and still believe 100% in that and share that as much as I can in all situations I can.
So, now onto the blog….
Had a promotion party to go to one night after work, at the Paris Café, what an awesome place. It's down at the Seaport and it's one of those place where the fishermen would go after their night shifts. They would have happy hour/food specials, like burgers and the like at 8am, because for the fisherman, that was/is their 5:00. They don't do as much now, because they've moved the fish market uptown, but it's still happening a little. So, it was a cool place to go and learn about.
We had book club at Fern's house and no, I didn't read the book! LOL It was Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, or something like that. They all loved the book and I loved the food Fern had. She made recipes from the book and it was awesome. We had nice discussions about how we live now, food wise, compared to back in the day. Very interesting how we have had changed as a country. No fruit is out of reach, really, no matter what time of year. One major question, should we limit ourselves to what's available here and now, rather than import. Support the local farmers by eating what they have for us. Interesting thoughts.
Movie night with the friends was great, we saw Waitress, cute movie and I just LOVED Andy Griffith in it. Very good movie and the crew had a blast. We had to sit in separate rows, so 4 in front, 4 in back and at some point there was popcorn and M&M's thrown from row to row! =) But no, we did not disturb the movie. =)
I have numerous dinners with my boys. The best ones lately have been when we all go to Daniel's and just cook out and sit around. It's so much better than a restaurant. You can talk to everyone and actually hear what the other is saying and the food is always better and it's WAY cheaper. So, for my birthday that's what we did. Grant it, it was the hottest day of the year, and we were in the backyard, but it was still way better than a crowded restaurant. I had a wonderful bday with the boys and my Gateway crew did a dinner at Paul and Teresa's for me too and it was awesome. I just love my peeps.
The Lake has become my weekend home! =) It's been so wonderful and I've spent so many weekends out there. It's been a quiet summer, as far as visitors go, so it's mainly been just me and P&B. My Gateway crew did come out one Saturday and we grilled and swam and just had the best time. The dogs had so much fun. Hunter is such a water dog! I'm hoping we can plan another weekend for that too, I think everyone had a great time.
Teresa had her friend Brent in town and the three of us hung out on a Saturday just tooling around the city. What a great day that was, but they walked my legs off! LOL, OK, they will say I did that to them, but really, who do you believe?! ;-) It was so great to finally get to hang out with Brent and get to know him. He's just the best and so awesome, I'm ready for him to move here!
I've done a little cooking at P&T's, but not as much as usual. It's just been crazy, all the stuff going on, but hopefully we can get back to that. I miss hanging with them as much. Now that summer is on the backside, maybe we can pick that up again. We have still been doing Sunday night bible study at their house, but I'm always just coming in from the lake or we have been out of town and all that jazz.
Oh, I went to this cool place called Camille Street Café with John and what a great place. Cool atmosphere. The food was good, not fabulous, but it was still cool to go. It was also in a great neighborhood.
Went to Carne Vale, a Brazilian restaurant. It was my Timmy's birthday, my other southern sister. Great food, but the service, sucky! I know it was probably one of those places that was all about the atmosphere, but I sure would have enjoyed that atmosphere way better had I not been starving! LOL
Oh, guess what? Yep, ended up in the ER one night. Not sure what happened, but I was there for about 6 hours. They did all kinds of tests and couldn't find anything, but they did give me pain meds which helped so much. It was what I call the sweet blanket of love, Morphine! LOL I told the doctor how much I loved him and would gladly marry him for what he did for me! ;-) What a night that was though, having never been in an ER as a patient or really with anyone else, that I can remember, it was a crazy night. When I heard the nurse telling one patient that the reason her legs looked like that was because she shot up in her legs rather than other places, I knew it was going to be crazy. It was like she was giving her tips on the best places on your body to shoot up, so it doesn't make you look bad! LOL There was also this guy who had been in an accident and he was telling everyone he was going to kick their arses and kill them and beat them up! LOL, needless to say, it didn't take long to see that yes, he was SO intoxicated and they gave him something to relax him and let him sleep. It was an interesting night and one I don't want to repeat anytime soon.
After recovering from all that mess, things were looking up, so I went to the lake that weekend and had some dinners with friends.
For 4th of July our Gateway crew had a party and invited lots of people from the building and some work friends. It was a GREAT party. It rained so we couldn't go out on the Esplanade like we wanted, but we moved it in to P&T's house and had a great time in spite of the rain. We ran down when they started the fireworks and they were so awesome, not the Macy's awesome, but awesome nonetheless! ;-) Go Jersey!
Laura Fulcher, still can't get used to her new name. ;-) Anyway, she came to town and met up with Bryon and me. We took her and showed her some of the "highlights" of the town and then went to dinner at Zen Palate. I think she had a great time. God knows Bryon and I loved seeing her.
I, of course, went to see the new Harry Potter movie with Bryon, Darlene and Jonathan. We had a blast and Bryon and I, with our accents, entertained the whole place. About a week later Darlene, Madeline, Jonathan and I went to the midnight sale of the new Harry Potter book. OMG, what a great book and we had a blast at the party. Acting like children, but it was so fun.
Debbie W, Mitzi and Corey came to town and we had such a nice time. I took them to Vynl, Angelo's and Calle Ocho for all our various food needs and I think they were very happy with my choices. We also saw Marry Poppins on Broadway, OMG, what a GREAT show! It was unbelievable they way they did the magic, different scenes and the dancing. I highly recommend this show, a MUST see!
My girls, Rachel and Alicia came over, it had been forever since we hung out, so we just ordered food and talked and watched some stuff Alicia had to view for work. One was really cool, it was about a boy becoming a girl and all he was going through, physically and emotionally. Very interesting. Teresa came up and watched that with us too.
We had book club again, this time at Teresa's house and no, I didn't read that book either, but it was interesting to hear about it. It was a classic Hemingway book and some liked it, some hated it, but either way, lots to talk about.
T and I went to Colony Music in Time's Square and I couldn't believe it, but it was T's first time there. She's such a music person, but never knew that was there, so that was a fun night watching her just go gaga over all the music.
I went home to FL for the church's and my daddy's 35th anniversary. It was a wonderful time. Daddy didn't know I was coming until I walked into church on Sunday. He was so excited and happy to see me, as I was him. I got to spend some quality time with the family and with Chris and Laila, oh my what a yummy baby! She's so cute and she loves me! ;-)
I came home for one day and then took off on a trip with some of my friends. We had a WONDERFUL time and it was just great to be with them.
I came back just in time for the birthday celebrating to begin. We all know how I love to celebrate for as long as I can! ;-) I had lunches, dinners, flowers, presents, cards, emails and tons of stuff. What a great birthday. My friends and family rock!

Rambling...
Wow, my oh my, where has the time gone?! I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted. I never ever intend to take so long, but as we all know, that's what happens. I've had a lot going on and then again, not so much. Such is life, right?!
Not really sure and too lazy to figure out, where I left off, so I'll just highlight for ya.
I've gone to the lake twice this season, so far. I will of course be going way more. I just love it out there and the time with my boys is always a blast. Last weekend was Memorial Day and it was a quiet, relaxing weekend. The wave runner ended up breaking, but it's all good, we still had a great time.
Went to a BBQ at Daniel's on a Thursday, it was kind of an last minute thing and it turned out oh so well.
Book Club, yep, I'm in one. Don't read the books, but I'm in it. But in my defense I told them ahead of time I wouldn't read the books, so they all knew going into it. This months book is all about healthy eating and all that jazz, so I think Fern and I might go to the Green Market tomorrow and get some good stuff for Tuesday's club.
Oh, don't know that you all have met Fern. She lives in our building and I've seen her over the years and chatted, but she finally started hanging with us and of course, fits right in. She's a great cook and baker, so we are so lucky to have her in our crew.
We did a few films with the Tribecca Film Festival. We saw She's Our Brother and Shame. Both were good, but Shame was beyond outstanding, in subject content, the technical stuff, not the best, but it's low budget and actually didn't need it. The film spoke all on it's own.
I took at boating class, 8 hours, but at least now I am legal to ride the waverunners by myself and can take others out too. The class was in Flatbush, Brooklyn, a new part of NYC for me.
The day we bought our film tickets a group of us went to Bubby's, awesome place for brunch. It was Fern, Sara, Teresa, Erika, Laci and me. Fun day!
Oh, check this, went to Cozumel for a long weekend. Spur of the moment thing, but had the most wonderful time. Also got to see New Orleans for the first time.
Went to Nashville for my friend Lara's wedding. What a fun time. The wedding was great, got to see old friends and spend 5 days with my mama. I lost my wallet and had to file a police report so I could fly. Guess what, yep, found it after all that mess.
Lisa and Michelle came back to NYC for Lisa's Schools Music Competition. They did very well and we had lots of fun. Small issue at the Empire State Building, but other than that, great time.
Had a spur of the moment visit from Jonathan W and Stephanie. Got to spend time with Stephanie while Jonathan went to the Yankees game. We had a good time. Teresa went with us and it was fun hanging out, just the girls.
Went to the Minetta Lane Theater to see Kim Zimmer in a reading. It was for the Parkinsons Dieseas Foundation and they had a dinner after. It was a blast. Got to hang with Kim for hours. Total blast.
Oh, sweet goodness, never going to believe I forgot about Bryon's bday dinner. Talked to him that day, wished him happy bday, went home, was chilling out, totally forgot. Had my phone on vibrate, something told me to check it, yep, 21 missed calls. I had all of them worried to death. If there is one thing they all know, when it comes to Bryon I am ALWAYS on time, usually the first there and I would NEVER miss. They all thought something had happened to me. I called Daniel and figured out what I had done. Jumped in a cab and was there just before the food was served. I felt horrible, but what's a girl to do?! Bad Hag I am, bad!
Went to see Martina McBride in concert at Radio City. She was AMAZING. Went by myself and had a wonderful time.
Had dinner with John and Marylou. So great to see her and spend time with the two of them.
Went to Bubba Gump with Darlene (Downey), Nitza and Nitza's husband Ben. Totally great to finally meet him. We had a great time.
I had lunch with Leslie at uno and then dinner with Mint and Rach, oh and Kevin came too.
Oh I also went to a food tasting for Zen Palate with the crew and after we went to dinner. Yeah, I know, you would think food tasting, but that's just what it was a taste. Anyway, we were on our way to Zen and passed Cipriani's on Wall Street and they were having some red carpet thing. We saw Fergie and Fergie, the Duchess of York and the singer. Pretty cool thing, they had opera singers outside on the terrace singing for the red carpet. Really neat, and they were very good too.
Went to the movies last night with Bryon to see Pirates #3, I loved it and thought it was really good. Orlando Bloom is a hottie, so what's not to like. We had to walk right passed the red carpet for the FiFi awards. Who knew there was such an award. Yep, happened last night in the World Financial Center. It was for the perfume/frangrance industry. They went all out too, there was booths for everyone you can imagine, a red carpet and of course, everyone was in black tie. Pretty cool.
I think for now, that kind of catches it all up. I'll be back, not sure when, but I'll be back! :-)

Afternoon Delight
OMG! Today at work, I'm having lunch with my boss, a co-worker and another guy that works in our area. We're sitting at the table, next to the window, and I see the guys at the table behind us looking out the window and laughing. I look over and found the cause of their laughter. There's a college student, in the NYC dorms, undressing, first the shirt, then the pants. Totally naked, just standing in the room. The guys start laughing again and like totally freaking out trying to look, so I look over and the next thing I see, yep, he's having sex! LOL, I'm freaking out. I say to my people at the table, it seems our friend is not alone. They finally look over and all start dying laughing. Gotta give him props, he was um, how shall I say, not in a hurry. =)
Got to say, never saw that before at lunch! Oh and just so you know, no, we couldn't make out faces or "details", but yeah, no question what was going on! LOL

Amazing Grace
I went to see this movie this past weekend. Wow! What an amazing film. I had seen some advertisements, but hadn't really known what the story was about. After seeing it, I think it's a movie everyone should see. I know there are some historical inaccuracies, but trust me, those do not take away from the mission of the movie. The passion and dedication of one man, one group to right a wrong, it's certainly a wake up call. What a pioneer this man was and what a message he sends to us today.
As for the song...
"John Newton (played by Albert Finney in Amazing Grace) wrote the words to one of the most beloved hymns of all time between 1760 and 1770, while working as an evangelical pastor. Son of the commander of a merchant ship, Newton was captain of a slave ship for many years, until he underwent a dramatic religious conversion while steering his vessel through a storm.
Repenting and regretting the misery he had inflicted on the thousands of human cargo he had transported across the Middle Passage for many years, he devoted his life to the Church, and wrote the lyrics to many hymns which are still popular today.
In 1780 Newton left Olney to become rector of St. Mary Woolnoth, St. Mary Woolchurch, in London. There he drew large congregations and influenced many, among them William Wilberforce. Newton continued to preach until the last year of life, although he was blind by that time. He died in London December 21, 1807."
I never knew the story behind the song, but again, WOW! This song means more to me now than I can ever even express. I'll never hear it and just sing it like any other song, it will carry with it much more meaning.
If you have any doubts about this movie, put them away and just go. Trust me, it's so needed and worth it.

RENT!
My friend Tobi was in town this week and we planned to meet last night for dinner. When I got there, she got me a ticket to go see Rent with her and her daughter and her daughter's friend. We went to grab some dinner at Chevy's and then went back to the theater. I had seen the show once before, but oh my did not like it. Sporty Spice was the lead and she was horrible in it. I was a bit leary about seeing it again, but was game for trying. I'm so glad I did. It was way better than the first time I saw it. The lead role of Mimi was awesome! She looked a bit older than 19, but still she was great in the role. The whole cast was great and seemed to have a very good connection with each other.
Tobi did have a small issue, she had a rat run across her feet, during the play!
It was great to see Tobi, meet Carly and Abby, see the play and just be together. So glad Tobi suprised me with that ticket, so sweet of her and a great night had by all!

My first RR Meal
Last night I cooked my first Rachel Ray Meal. It was so good. Of course it didn't come out of the cook book I just purchased, no, that would make sense! LOL, this one came off the internet. I was watching her make it the other day and it just looked so good and oh my was it ever! It was pork chops and cheesy rice and green beans. The green beans were supposed to be fresh, but if you know me, no way, don't like them, but canned ones, so much my favorite. So, yes, we had canned green beans, cheesy rice and pork chops with a pepper sauce over them. YUM-O indeed! It was a big hit. I had to make a few changes since my store didn't have all she called for, but it was still a fabu meal. Oh and yes, I used some EVOO, but alas, no garbage bowl, I just used the sink! =)

M&M World!
M&M World has made it to Manhattan!
OMG, it's the coolest store. It's 3 stories and has all these different sections and any color of M&M, plain or peanut, that you want. I went there the other night and just had the best time looking around and all that jazz. This, of course, is located directly across the street from the Hershey Store, one story and very small, but still great. I am very impressed with the whole M&M World concept, they definatley know how to market stuff. I bought this T-Shirt that has the Red M&M guy with a half mask and cape and it says, "The Candy of the Opera"! LOL, hilarious right?
They say there is a huge chocolate war between Hershey and Mars and well, I would have to say, Mars' latest move, totally puts them as winners of this round. If you are in Times Square, you must go, it's on I think 49th and Broadway, totally worth the trip.
To Cook or not to cook?
One thing I LOVE to do is cook. I love to bake as well, but cooking is more my thing. I really love to cook for people. I guess it's just the southern-ness in me, but I so love to cook for others. It's such a way of showing you care about people, imo. I got this new cookbook and can't wait to try out some receipes on my friends. It's gonna be awesome!
I also have this thing about portions. I know I'm a bit different, but when people come to my house, or I cook for them, I so try to make sure there is enough for everyone to have ALL they want to eat. I don't want anyone to ever feel that they can't eat what they want until they are finished, you know? I would feel horrible if I ever thought one of my guests was left hungry or just wanted more and I didn't have it. Oh my, perish the thought!

Religious Superiority!
Since I moved to New York I've been exposed to more religions than I ever have in my life. And to hear all of them tell it they are THE WAY. Let me say here at the beginning, I am a Christian. I was raised Independent Baptist and am a preacher's child. I do not question my own beliefs in this post, that's not what this is about. When I was a child and was growing up, I was exposed to Southern and Independent Baptist, Methodist, Church of God and that was pretty much it. I didn't know many from the Church of God realm, but my Aunt Grace and Aunt Louise, if I remember correctly, were both members of that religion. Either way, I was raised in a very protestant world. I knew there were other religions, but had no exposure to them at all. I saw the Catholic Church down the street, but never went, of course. I went to a Christian School, that daddy started, and so my world consisted of church and school, all at the same place. I never knew I was sheltered, honestly, I assumed everyone was living the life I was. In high school I became friends with this girl, Monique. I had heard that she was Catholic, but had never talked to her about it. Well, in my sophomore year we became very good friends, Tammy, Monique and me, 3 Musketeers. I started going to Monique's house and slowly became aware of the Catholic church, but still not very educated about it. When I was 19 I met Monique, who had moved to Vermont, in NYC for a long weekend. The Sunday we were there, we went to St. Patrick's Cathedral for church. I have never in my life felt so out of place. I had no idea what to do, when do kneel, when to stand and oh my did I freak out when it came time to go get the wafer thingy, was I supposed to do that? Monique said, you don't have to do that, so I sat down and waited for her. Needless to say, it was quite the experience.
Since that time, I've been exposed to so much more, man 19 was such a long time ago! =) I am even more baffled at religion now than I ever have been. When I moved to Nashville I started going to a Southern Baptist Church and even that was so much more different for me. But ah, legalism still abounds! LOL Eventually I started going to a Church of the Nazarene, not too far from the Baptist world, and I really enjoyed it. I loved the people and really enjoyed the preacher. But again, all in that Protestant bubble. Well, then came my move to NYC and can I just say, bubble burst! LOL, talk about a culture/religion shock. I have met so many people that have so many different religions, honestly, just thought that was all made up, everyone at heart is Baptist, I just know it! LOL
In my job alone, my boss is Jewish, one of the attorney's that worked here was Hindu, I have co-worker's who are Jehovah's Witness, Catholic, Methodist, Agnostic, Atheist, and that's just the ones of which I know. In my NYC friends world, I have friends who are Atheist, Jewish, Wicca, Mormon, Catholic, Baptist, some that aren't associated with any religion, Inter-denominational, non-denominational, Buddhist, and a bit of everything else.
It's all so confusing, really it is. Since moving here, I've done a lot of soul searching and "religion" searching as well and I've discovered one thing, religion is so faulty. Yes, I understand, in case you are wondering, the difference in religion and spirituality. I don't know that a lot of people do, jmo. But that’s some knowledge I've gained since moving here! Thank God for that!
So, I say all of the above to say that it baffles my mind how many versions of "The Right Way" there are. I fully believe that, yes, my beliefs are the right and only way to eternal security in Christ, but I do recognize that with the same passion that I believe and will not be swayed, most people that belong to a religion believe that they have the "Right Way" and they believe it with the same passion I do.
I notice that when talking to others about their religion, or lack thereof, there is a major sense of superiority. When you believe with such passion, how can their not be, right? So, we all go around believing with all that is in us, that we are correct and all the other "lost souls" will flounder around when the end comes.
So, this begs the question, who really is right? What religion is the way to go and the one to follow? I, of course, believe that it is salvation through Christ and belief in Him. But ask a few others, they will tell you I'm wrong! LOL =)
I guess the main thought is how hard it is to accept others views when in reality you feel they are so wrong. People want to show you the truth, yet you feel what you have is the truth.
I would love to hear people's thoughts on this, so chat my people, chat!
Since that time, I've been exposed to so much more, man 19 was such a long time ago! =) I am even more baffled at religion now than I ever have been. When I moved to Nashville I started going to a Southern Baptist Church and even that was so much more different for me. But ah, legalism still abounds! LOL Eventually I started going to a Church of the Nazarene, not too far from the Baptist world, and I really enjoyed it. I loved the people and really enjoyed the preacher. But again, all in that Protestant bubble. Well, then came my move to NYC and can I just say, bubble burst! LOL, talk about a culture/religion shock. I have met so many people that have so many different religions, honestly, just thought that was all made up, everyone at heart is Baptist, I just know it! LOL
In my job alone, my boss is Jewish, one of the attorney's that worked here was Hindu, I have co-worker's who are Jehovah's Witness, Catholic, Methodist, Agnostic, Atheist, and that's just the ones of which I know. Jan-Feb 2007 Happy New Year!
Time for a real post, it's been so long. I swear I have the best of intentions, but it just never seems to motivate me enough to actually post. But alas, I am here.
Since December and that horrible mess I dealt with at Christmas, it's been quiet around here. I've been battling some sickness with the usual cold crud mess and yes, my back, it hasn't left me! UGH! But, it is a bit more manageable. I have joined the gym, that's in my building, yes, I know, I should have joined before now, but let's not judge, OK?!
I joined January 4th and for the most part have been going pretty consistently. I go with Paul, Teresa, Sara and Anne, my Gateway peeps! I've gotten Paul and Teresa into Yoga and they love it. They've gotten me into the Elliptical Machine, which I do not love, but it does burn the calories! And you know what they say, Calories, Calories!
I went to the New Year's Eve party at Neil and Brian's, which is always so much fun. We had a great time and brought the new year in in style!
It's been hard adjusting to Erika not living in our building anymore. I don't get to see her much, but she does like her new place, she has two floors, it's HUGE! She lives in a brownstone with her sister. It's two separate apartments, her sister is on the bottom two floors and Erika has the top two. We went over the other night for dinner and had a great time. I just miss her being there every day.
In mid January I went to Mississippi for two days and then my friends and I went to Vegas. We had a great time and just enjoyed the time together. We saw some shows and hung out a lot. It was a wonderful time together.
I still spend most of my time hanging out with P&T and now the gym. I have spent some good times with P&B and Tosca. We did our Christmas a bit late, but had a wonderful day. Peter cooked and it was just fabu!
Michelle and Lisa came to town. I so love it when they come to see me. It's just always a fun time. Teresa sang at Carnegie Hall on Feb 8th and they were here to go to that. We spent a lot of time, during their visit, eating and just visiting. We went to Cowgirl, which is one of our favorite places and while we were there this big birthday party was going on and it had to be a famous person. There were all these celebrities coming and going, it was kind of cool. Oh and to top it off, we stopped at Out of the Kitchen and got those yummy cupcakes.
We also went to a new resutrant Bona Fides, what a great space. Peter has been going there since it opened. He and Bryon met us there and we just had a wonderful night, chatting and all that jazz.
Teresa's mom and dad were in town too and I just love them. They stayed 3 weeks and so we did a lot of games and cooking and eating and just hanging out together. Her dad, Daddy Wayne, is my Funny Valentine!
Oh, can't believe I forgot to say that I went and had the taxes done! Woo hoo! Wow, what great fun that was! LOL
Went to see Pan's Labyrinth and what a cool movie. I'll post a separate blog about that. If you don't mind subtitles, go see it, great movie.
Also been hanging out with my friend John. We are going to a play tonight. We had planned to do that two weeks ago and the day of the play they cancelled it on us. We are going to see The Vertical Hour. Not sure what it's about, but I love plays so how bad could it be, you know?
Paul had surgery, so we, Erika, Teresa and I, went to see him. NYC hospitals are such small things! It was just a one night stay and he's doing so much better, so yea!
On Dale and Wayne's last night here, I got empanadas and we had those for dinner. They were so good and I think everyone loved them.
Rachel and Mint (Alicia) and I hung out some and of course, did our Jeva stuff. =)
Another night Rachel came over, after we went to Olive Garden. Yep, she will let me go to a chain restaurant and not make fun of me. She loves them too!
Oh, this week, I had a toe incident, yep a toe incident. Not sure how, but I got an infection under the nail bed, back part of the nail, on my big toe. Had to go have it lanced, ummmm, hello, pain! Dang doctor hurt me, I wanted to kick him, but I do feel so much better and can actually walk on my foot now.
I guess that about wraps up my "Sundi Catch-up". I do have a few other things to blog about, but I shall do those separately.
